Coaching & Accountability

Guiding and encouraging writers who need help developing, refining, or completing a manuscript

My Approach to Working with Authors

  • Finding balance. For most of us, writing isn’t our day job. I help busy higher ed professionals make space for a writing practice that is sustainable and ultimately energizing.

  • Engaging curiosity. Writing and publishing are ways to share our knowledge and experiences with others—knowledge and experiences that are ultimately grounded in a desire to understand more about the fundamental values propositions of higher education and the student experience and our specific communities of practice. I bring this curiosity to my work with writers—asking questions, inhabiting the writer’s perspective, seeking to make connections.

  • Acting with integrity. Writing requires courage and vulnerability. I seek to honor the voices and experiences of writers in helping them shape a piece of writing. I offer candid and respectful feedback with an eye toward helping writers communicate their message with power and purpose. I value and work to safeguard the intellectual property of the writers with whom I work.

  • Seeking justice. As an editor, I work to amplify the voices of scholars and practitioners who have been historically marginalized in the higher education and student success literature. I am committed to telling the stories of students who struggle to access and thrive in higher education settings that were not designed for them and of scholars and practitioners who seek to reshape higher education so that it works for all learners.
